(More customer reviews)I'm a adult male who has been around stereos and speakers since the late 60's and presently own 3 systems.I have always said I would never buy speakers without hearing them.I broke my rule and purchased the Klipsch AW-650's, based on research and reviews, and am really regretting it.I can't say they sound bad on the contrary they are really clear and crisp but they seem to have no bass.Even adding bass doesn't help.They just can't reproduce much bass.If you don't want to add some subs to your pair of $500+ speakers I would look at other alternatives.I suggest listen before you buy these speakers.

(More customer reviews)I have a one acre lot with a large backyard and wanted to find the right speakers for a larger outdoor space.I researched and listened to a number of outdoor speakers, including other brands and lesser Klipsch models such as the AW 400.

Considering Klipsch speakers are designed for larger spaces to begin with given their horn powered tweeter, I narrowed my choices to the AW 400 and 525 models.Although they are more expensive, I went with the 525s and after having them now for over a year I am glad I spent the extra money.They produce awesome sound and definitely fill my backyard space very nicely.

Polk Audio Atrium 60 All Weather Speakers (Pair, White) Review

(More customer reviews)I have had these speakers for a couple of months. They are mounted in my backyard and produce a very nice and crisp sound. I am very pleased and happy about the speakers and sound quality. So, the speakers get 5 stars!
The grills however, are a different story. The industrial designer that came up with this idea probably looked at the sketch on the CAD/design program and figured it's very cool and they moved forward with it, without making a few prototypes and testing them for a period of time to see whether or not there are any issues. The perforated metal screen has very short lips and they fall out of the cut in the body of the structure easily, especially when the speakers are hanging at an angle from the wall. The mechanical engineer would have caught this, had they held a design review meeting, and they could have resolved this if they had seen the prototypes in action during the design phase.
I'll have to look at them and see if there is a way to fix them so that they don't fall off, but then why did I pay the hefty price for these speakers in the first place? I hope the folks at Polk read this review and think twice next time they release a product.
So, if you don't care about the grills, go for them, they are nice speakers, but the grills will not sit on them unless you use "superglue" or something else to hold them in place (not a recommendation obviously!!!)

(More customer reviews)I bought these speakers based on reviews of BIC's excellent reviews of other models.This being their higher-end model I thought should be even better.Well, the speakers came with one that when I picked up out of the box I could hear something shifting.When I played them the speakers sounded terrible(obviously broken).The other one sounded adequate at best.I compared them to my Klipsch surround sat's which blew them away. Also, the Klipsch list and sale prices were much cheaper, although they are indoor only.I don't know if others benchmarch speakers are nonexistant or that poor but I also have Rega and Boston Acoustics which are both way better although they are towers and aren't a fair comparison.I guess what bothers me most is that these list for $450 and their fit and finish besides their sound only deserves a $50-$100 price.

(More customer reviews)I have had a "total" sound system in my home for more than 10 years - a set of Bose indoor speakers in each of three rooms; a set of Bose outdoor speakers in the eaves over my front door and another set in my outdoor screen room; and a set of Cerwin Vega "bookshelf" speakers in my TV/entertainment room.Just today, I added a set of Polk Audio Atrium 4 speakers to the system in order to pipe sound (satellite TV/DVD/CD)to an arbor swing located about 50 feet from the back of my house.I must say, I am impressed.The Polk Audio Atrium 4s sound every bit as good as the Bose speakers (if not better), and the quality of their construction appears outstanding.As this is the the set which will be most exposed to the elements, I was encouraged by the excellent "weatherproof" specifications and the fit and finish of the Atrium 4s.Only time will tell if they hold up as well as the outdoor speakers I now have, but at a price about $100 cheaper than the least expensive Bose outdoor speakers, they appear to be an extraordinary value for the money.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Polk Audio AM3386-A Atrium Sub10 Speaker Review

(More customer reviews)I ordered the sub overnight and it showed up on time. The wiring was not what I expected. If I remember correctly it wires up parallel. There is no crossover. But it works great and really improved the sound on the patio. I have it paired with 2 Infinity outdoor speakers. Infinity is not known for their low end and Polk is. So together they sound pretty good. I looks inconspicuous so it is not as likely to walk off and it makes a dandy plant stand. It is only a 10" speaker so don't expect it to numb your brain.

Polk Audio Atrium 5 Speakers (White) Review

(More customer reviews)I am an audiophile, I was looking for a desent sounding pair of outdoor speakers for my pool area. I was mostly concerned with build quality because I live in Florida and the elements can be very harsh here, especially for any type of speaker.
Well, Polk delivered what I needed, the specs are great, and you can really tell when you hold this speaker that it should hold up to the elements no problem at all. The bracket system is very well done, very user friendly and very adaptable to locations of all kinds. The only thing they don't provide is the screws for mounting, but simple enough. To my surprise, they sounded like a very good mid fi home two channel speaker set, honestly I was not expecting to sound as good as they do right out of the box. Break in time is long, but any thing of any quality (speaker wise) always is. Bass response is tight, but not over exaggerated. Bass is good, but more of a mid range shiner, vocals sound very realistic, highs are nice and clean even through MP3. However, a lot of people are Bass hungry, if you are one of them, this is not your speaker, you may want to go up to the higher end Atrium in the line that has the ported bass, that I would imagine would be enough for any outdoor event for most people.Placement also has a lot to do with sound, my speakers are overhead about 10ft off the ground, mounted horizonal, angled slightly down. (maybe 3 deg) I have them spaced about 8ft apart, this allows for good stereo sound at a short and long distance, that works with my area. My deck area is 30ft deep by 50ft long and was worried about this product "filling the air" but it does so nicely with a desent amp powering it. This is very well worth the money, and a great product, hard to find it dissapointing by any means for this price.

(More customer reviews)I ordered one of these speakers for my husband for a birthday gift, reasoning that if he liked it, I would get another so that he would have stereo sound outdoors. We hooked it up tonight, and it has worked great for us. The setup only took a few minutes, and the sound clarity is excellent. It also looks good--either sitting or hanging.Although it's mono right now, it sounds fantastic--good enough that I'm ordering another so that we'll have stereo sound. I must note that we are very close to the sound source--ten to fifteen feet, so I can't speak for longer ranges.The speaker can be either plugged into an outlet (adapter included) or powered by batteries. We have ours plugged in, and don't intend to use batteries, so consider battery life if you don't have an outlet handy. Overall, we're really impressed by these speakers. I'll update if we encounter any problems.

(More customer reviews)After researching online, I went to a local Electronics store to test different size speakers.All of the smaller ones did not have a full sound, especially turned up loud.The only speakers that sounded good had 6.5" speakers and dual tweeters. They were also $300 to $400 each.I found these on the Yamaha Website and Amazon had the best price. Though not the same brand in store I bought them based on the speaker sizes.They are installed and blasting.I am 100% satisfied with these speakers and recommend them for exterior patio use.
