(More customer reviews)I'm a adult male who has been around stereos and speakers since the late 60's and presently own 3 systems.I have always said I would never buy speakers without hearing them.I broke my rule and purchased the Klipsch AW-650's, based on research and reviews, and am really regretting it.I can't say they sound bad on the contrary they are really clear and crisp but they seem to have no bass.Even adding bass doesn't help.They just can't reproduce much bass.If you don't want to add some subs to your pair of $500+ speakers I would look at other alternatives.I suggest listen before you buy these speakers.

The durable Klipsch AW-650 all-weather loudspeaker brings clean, clear, dynamic sound and worry-free performance to the great outdoors. The AW-650 typically handles 85 watts of power at 8 ohms, with peak handling of 340 watts. Yet because it's so efficient, you get even more sound per watt, enabling this full-range model to work well in wide-open spaces.
Featuring a 6.5-inch IMG woofer and a 1-inch titanium dome tweeter mated to a square Tractrix horn, the AW-650 brings music to life with a broad frequency response from 70 to 20,000 Hertz. The speaker's housing is a durable, UV-resistant, white ABS plastic enclosure, non-corrosive grille, easy draining input cup, and a heavy gauge zinc C-bracket with threaded inserts, the AW-650 easily brings high-quality music entertainment to your patio, garden, terrace, balcony or poolside.
The AW-650 can accommodate up to 12-gauge wire in order to preserve maximum sound quality (The use of at least 16-gauge or heavier stranded copper wire is recommended.). The speaker measures 8 x 11.8 x 9 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 9 pounds.

It has more than enough bass and the mids & highs are crystal clear! Finish & fit are great. Can't wait to add a second one to my outdoor area for great stereo imaging. You can't go wrong in purchasing this if you're looking for a quality built & sounding speaker!

(More customer reviews)I bought these speakers based on reviews of BIC's excellent reviews of other models.This being their higher-end model I thought should be even better.Well, the speakers came with one that when I picked up out of the box I could hear something shifting.When I played them the speakers sounded terrible(obviously broken).The other one sounded adequate at best.I compared them to my Klipsch surround sat's which blew them away. Also, the Klipsch list and sale prices were much cheaper, although they are indoor only.I don't know if others benchmarch speakers are nonexistant or that poor but I also have Rega and Boston Acoustics which are both way better although they are towers and aren't a fair comparison.I guess what bothers me most is that these list for $450 and their fit and finish besides their sound only deserves a $50-$100 price.

Polk Audio Atrium 4 Speakers (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)I have had a "total" sound system in my home for more than 10 years - a set of Bose indoor speakers in each of three rooms; a set of Bose outdoor speakers in the eaves over my front door and another set in my outdoor screen room; and a set of Cerwin Vega "bookshelf" speakers in my TV/entertainment room.Just today, I added a set of Polk Audio Atrium 4 speakers to the system in order to pipe sound (satellite TV/DVD/CD)to an arbor swing located about 50 feet from the back of my house.I must say, I am impressed.The Polk Audio Atrium 4s sound every bit as good as the Bose speakers (if not better), and the quality of their construction appears outstanding.As this is the the set which will be most exposed to the elements, I was encouraged by the excellent "weatherproof" specifications and the fit and finish of the Atrium 4s.Only time will tell if they hold up as well as the outdoor speakers I now have, but at a price about $100 cheaper than the least expensive Bose outdoor speakers, they appear to be an extraordinary value for the money.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

(More customer reviews)I am an audiophile, I was looking for a desent sounding pair of outdoor speakers for my pool area. I was mostly concerned with build quality because I live in Florida and the elements can be very harsh here, especially for any type of speaker.
Well, Polk delivered what I needed, the specs are great, and you can really tell when you hold this speaker that it should hold up to the elements no problem at all. The bracket system is very well done, very user friendly and very adaptable to locations of all kinds. The only thing they don't provide is the screws for mounting, but simple enough. To my surprise, they sounded like a very good mid fi home two channel speaker set, honestly I was not expecting to sound as good as they do right out of the box. Break in time is long, but any thing of any quality (speaker wise) always is. Bass response is tight, but not over exaggerated. Bass is good, but more of a mid range shiner, vocals sound very realistic, highs are nice and clean even through MP3. However, a lot of people are Bass hungry, if you are one of them, this is not your speaker, you may want to go up to the higher end Atrium in the line that has the ported bass, that I would imagine would be enough for any outdoor event for most people.Placement also has a lot to do with sound, my speakers are overhead about 10ft off the ground, mounted horizonal, angled slightly down. (maybe 3 deg) I have them spaced about 8ft apart, this allows for good stereo sound at a short and long distance, that works with my area. My deck area is 30ft deep by 50ft long and was worried about this product "filling the air" but it does so nicely with a desent amp powering it. This is very well worth the money, and a great product, hard to find it dissapointing by any means for this price.
