I upgraded from a Polk CS series center speaker to this a month ago, and what a pleasant surprise it has been! Earlier I couldn't make out several dialogues in movies in Doly ProLogic II c mode (I have a fan in the same, mid size room), and had to raise the volume better than -20db. But this one, even with the fan running, is unbelievably clear at -30db and I can hear sounds that I never heard before.
In terms of specs, Polk was a 125watts 100hz+ speaker while this is also a 125watts but 78hz+ speaker - doesn't look too different on spec but sounds worlds apart!
My equipment list runs - Denon AVR-988, Panasonic DVD, Martin Logan Aeon i front speakers and Grotto subwoofer, with Polk speakers for surround sound.
I have been a Martin Logan fan for years but have tried other brands now and then and keep coming back to Martin Logan.
Apart from a good clarity for movies/dialogues, it sounds sweet with music (obviously being a Martin Logan, it has to be a good audiophile speaker first!), in 5 channel/PLII music/Neo modes.

With a nominal 6 ohm rating, this speaker should work with any receiver (unlike Martin Logan's ESL line that demands high end and high current receivers with a good capacity to drive low impedance speakers), so this will work with any stereo/receiver setup!

Also this speaker is flexible - can be kept under the TV on the TV stand or can be mounted below or above a plasma/LCD TV.

MartinLogan DYNBLD Dynamo 10-Inch Subwoofer (Single, Black) Review

(More customer reviews)This is a very well built subwoofer with many of the same parts and most of the technology taken from the upper line (Grotto, Depth, Descent) of ML subs.It has the same solid 10" aluminum driver found in all high-end subs. It was designed and engineered in the US by ML and built in China to keep costs down, however, I did not notice any build-quality issue.I compared the Dynamo head to head with the ML Grotto (twice the price) and found that they both sounded great.The Grotto adds a servo circuit, a tad better cabinet and a little more power (250 vs. 200) but in the long run, I could not justify the price difference.

The Dynamo has deep, tight bass with no boom. It blends seamlessly with all speakers that I have tried. If set up correctly and this is easy to do, you cannot tell where the sub is located in your room. I am using it for 2 channel audio but it can work well for home theater as well, just don't expect ground-shaking boom.Although I think you would be wasting its potential.It also has the option of front firing and down firing by just rotating it on its platform/stand, I set it up as front firing since I found it provide tighter bass/more musical/accurate then down-firing on my carpet.I also did not miss the servo circuit on the more expensive ML sub.The servo would have been more important if the Dynamo had a larger driver (12" plus) due to the inherent distortion issues with large drivers.An 8" - 10" driver does not have as many of these issues, hence the servo circuit not missed much.

You cannot go wrong with the Dynamo for some of the best quality bass at the best price available today.

Strengths:
Build quality. Deep, tight bass...no boom here. Blends seamlessly with every speaker I tried. Easy to set up. Great set up instructions furnished by ML. Price. And a product designed and supported by one of the best speaker builders in the world. Call ML anytime and they will answer any question and make suggestions on proper set up, etc.

Weaknesses:
I would have preferred that whether you choose front firing or down firing, the amp controls would be easily accessible. When in front firing position, the controls are on the bottom. However, once set up, this should not be a problem.

MartinLogan Depth i High-Performance Triple 8-Inch Servo-Control Subwoofer (Single, Dark Cherry) Review

(More customer reviews)Partnering a subwoofer with a pair of Martin-Logan reQuests is a difficult venture. The reQuests already have significant low end response down to 30Hz. The problem becomes apparent upon using just the pair of speakers for 5.1 soundtracks or for audio sources that have music that can truly utilize the low end of the spectrum. For the 5.1 soundtracks, there's no easy way of getting the .1 output directly to the main pair without making a mess of the more essential qualities of the audio. The Depth i brings the response down to 20Hz without any difficulties. It can be wired simultaneously for both your digital .1 subwoofer output and for reproducing just the low end of the spectrum on 2 channel sources. To do that, you can run the patch cord for the digital .1 output directly to the appropriate input on the sub while also running a pair of cables for the RCA line level input. You may wish to ensure that your preamp can handle this easily or that you have the appropriate cables in advance.

The placement for the sub, which is a very nice looking and very heavy unit, is typically behind one of the front speakers. The sub's crossover frequency is easily adjusted as is its volume, so you can not only adjust it appropriately for your current speakers but can set it so that those in the family who don't appreciate bass are comfortable. This can be set up so that it makes your chair vibrate with the explosions or so that it adds a balanced extension of your system's overall frequency response down another few notches.

Setup was easy although you need two people to unpack and move the unit into position. You can leave the speaker switched on, in which case it goes into standby mode when no signal is being received, or can turn it on and off as desired. MartinLogan's customer service and online support has always been excellent. The manual is well written and straightforward.

I've always been a Martin Logan fan because they reproduce music so acurately but OMG what a great Home Theater I have now too. It sounds as good or better then at the theater. These speakers are very versitile and can be mounted on the wall but I bought the adjustable height table stands for them. Way to go Martin Logan !

MartinLogan Ticket In-Wall Compact Speaker (Single) Review

(More customer reviews)Hello, I hope this review can help... I have several sets of Tickets in my house and they are each set up with a Martin Logan Dynmo sub. Running off a mere 50 watts. One is a sonos amp and the other Niles multi room amp.Both sets up are a hoot...Having been in to Hi Fi for most of my life.. I often have a hard time explaining martin logans.. this case is no different...I feel the Tickets have such a natural sound to them.. that frankly they are hard to describe.. other than natural or smooth.. I really like them so much i have since added many Martin Logan systems around the house... yes.. even the master bath. the kitchen has the big brother to the tickets... the Passages... even with no sub.. they sound great...

The install is very easy (so long as you remove any foil backed insulation:) the templete was right on.. and the instructions were great.

There are some that have paintable grills and some are cloth so be carefull whick ones you pick.

Ask me if i would buy again??? well i did... and again and again... if you saw my house you would think my last name was Martin or Logan... well its not.... I have found that I was able to get some Polks for the kids room that for the money sound very very good... But if you are Mommy or Daddy...get the Martin Logans... I would be shocked if you regret it.

I hope to add a video showing them in the wall... but really would would that do?you need to hear them...sorry no you cant come over.... ;)

Dont bother shopping for price too hard... ML is very price fixed.. that would normally bother me (apple bose etc) but this product will overcome that very easily.

MartinLogan Vantage High-Performance Electrostatic Speaker (Single, Black Ash/Black Aluminum) Review

(More customer reviews)I have owned many Martin Logan products, including the Vantage, and all are of the highest quality. Electrostatic speakers have a unique, open and airy sound quite different than most conventional systems, and if this suits your tastes, the MLs are among the best.

Some folks find the airy openness of electrostats better for music than for home theater, but I disagree. Matched with stable, high-quality electronics, these sound amazing in a home theater system (that's how I have mine). They are of course also excellent for pure music with a clear, detailed sound quality not to be missed.

Note that they benefit from top quality electronics and very careful placement within your room in order to get the optimum performance (specifically, they need to be placed a few feet away from any walls). But give them 200 watts of pure, clean power and you won't believe the sound quality from these gems.

They are also somewhat difficult to clean (dust is attracted to the electrostatic elements and needs to be vacuumed), and I wouldn't feel right installing these fine speakers in a home with a smoker (smoke collects on the electrostatic panels, too). The wiring can also be complex - like all electrostats, the speakers need to be plugged into an electric outlet, not just connected via speaker cables.

Highly recommended and worth every penny!

MartinLogan Helos10 In-Ceiling Speaker with Paintable Frame and Grill Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased four Martin Logan Helos 10 speakers from Amazon in November 2009. I am using them for for background listening in a kitchen, and for surround sound in a home theater room.

The speakers themselves produce impressively clear sound, are well constructed, meticulously packaged, and easy to install.The aimable tweeter provides the ability to produce the best stereo image possible when installation location choices are limited.

Whereas I like the product, Amazon has not stood by it as seller.One of the speakers came with dents in the cone and the tweeter detached.It had obviously been abused, returned, and put right back into stock.I returned it requesting a replacement, which is a standard option on Amazon's returns page. No worries, right?Amazon instead refunded muy purchase price, which has gone up by $50 since my order.

I note that there is no place in my past order list to make contact with or make a claim against the seller when the seller is Amazon.I described the problem hitting the "give packaging feedback" link but so far have gotten no response.

The price of these speakers is tightly controlled by Martin Logan, and will be the same wherever you buy.So unless Amazon turns things around on my order, I've got to advise you to buy the product, but not from Amazon.
